Thurstan was born, bred, raised and educated
locally until he attended university in Norwich. He worked in industry and abroad
(including a couple of scrap metal ventures in Canada) before training as a solicitor.
He finds that experience valuable. He

When the office first opened, Thurstan did everything that came in
through the door but subsequently specialised in conveyancing and
eventually further specialised in commercial conveyancing and other
He enjoys dealing with persons starting a business or taking on a lease
for the first time who need detailed advice and support. He also
enjoys dealing with experienced business people who know the ropes and
what is important to them.
Thurstan is married to Jill, who used to work as a part time secretary for the
Wills Probate & Tax Department. They have one daughter.
He is delighted that she has returned to Cornwall and taht her daughter
was born here. He
is interested in sport having played rugby at Wadebridge, London Cornish
and Truro among others.
He still runs/plods, swims and plays golf with no distinction at
all. Jill plays with much greater success and, until September
2016, they both sailed. Apart from outdoor activities (gardening not being one of
them) he enjoys reading a general mix ("The Hitch-hiker's Guide to the
Galaxy" and "Proust") and listening, or sometimes sleeping to, music.
Thurstan is a member of the Red River Singers and the St Agnes Writing
Group. He is also associated with the
Rotary Club of Redruth and is a member of the Redruth and District
Chamber of Commerce (of which he is a past president) and St Agnes Chamber of Commerce.
He has written a detective novel, which he hopes to publish in the near
